MAFM Strengthens Ties with JKR Sarawak Ahead of FMAC2026

KUCHING – The Malaysian Association of Facility Management (MAFM) paid a courtesy visit to the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) on 24 February 2026, in conjunction with the upcoming 5th Facility Management Asia Conference (FMAC2026).

The meeting was aimed at strengthening strategic cooperation between both organisations and creating a platform for discussions on sustainable, innovative, and best practice-based facility management.

The dialogue highlighted the importance of aligning facility management strategies with the evolving needs of public infrastructure development in Sarawak and across the region.

JKR Sarawak reaffirmed its support for knowledge-sharing initiatives and professional collaboration, noting that such efforts are crucial in enhancing the quality of public service delivery.

Officials emphasised that efficient and resilient facility management plays a vital role in ensuring that infrastructure projects deliver long-term benefits to communities.

The courtesy visit also underscored the growing importance of facility management in Malaysia’s development agenda.

With infrastructure projects expanding rapidly, adopting innovative practices and sustainable approaches has become essential to maintain efficiency and durability.

MAFM representatives expressed appreciation for JKR Sarawak’s openness to collaboration, highlighting that partnerships between government agencies and professional associations can accelerate the adoption of modern facility management standards.

The upcoming FMAC2026 conference is expected to serve as a key platform for industry leaders, government officials, and practitioners to exchange ideas and explore solutions for challenges in facility management.

By engaging with JKR Sarawak, MAFM aims to ensure that Sarawak’s infrastructure development is supported by world-class management practices.

The visit concluded with a shared commitment to continue fostering cooperation, with both parties recognising the importance of innovation, sustainability, and resilience in facility management as Malaysia moves forward with its infrastructure agenda.
