PUTRAJAYA – The closing ceremony of the Rancakkan MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku programme was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, drawing a large crowd at Dataran Putrajaya. The event marked three years of the MADANI Malaysia initiative, which has been credited with advancing reforms and strengthening national unity.
The Prime Minister highlighted that political stability and consensus have enabled the government to implement bold policies more effectively. He noted that the achievements of the MADANI administration were made possible through the dedication of civil servants, leaders, and the support of citizens across all communities.
Malaysia’s economy has shown strong recovery, with trade surpassing RM2.23 trillion in the first nine months of 2025, one of the highest levels in the region. The ringgit has also strengthened, reflecting renewed investor confidence.
According to the government, Malaysia is close to eradicating hardcore poverty, with the rate now at just 0.09 percent. Officials expect the issue to be resolved by early next year, placing the country among the best performers globally in tackling extreme deprivation.
Social protection measures have been expanded, including the largest civil service salary increase in history, alongside initiatives such as STR and SARA, amounting to RM15 billion. These programmes aim to ease the financial burden on households while reinforcing welfare support.
In Sabah and Sarawak, the government has introduced monthly monitoring of essential infrastructure projects covering water, electricity, and roads. The Pan Borneo Highway project, long delayed in the past, is now progressing steadily, with Phase 1 in Sabah reported to have reached over 84 percent completion. The initiative is expected to significantly improve connectivity and boost regional growth.
Institutional reforms have also been prioritised. Legislation such as the Public Finance and Fiscal Responsibility Act 2023 has already been enacted, while upcoming bills include the Ombudsman Bill, Freedom of Information, and reforms on political funding. These measures are designed to strengthen governance, transparency, and accountability across public institutions.
On the international stage, Malaysia has taken a firm stance in advocating justice for Palestine, while simultaneously expanding trade opportunities in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. The government views these efforts as essential to positioning Malaysia as a competitive and resilient trading nation.
While acknowledging challenges posed by divisive rhetoric in the democratic space, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that Malaysia will continue to move forward with determination. “As long as we walk with the same determination, Malaysia will continue to take bold and courageous steps to become a prosperous, respected country around the world,” he said.
The closing of the MADANI programme not only celebrated past achievements but also set the tone for Malaysia’s future trajectory, with reforms, infrastructure development, and social welfare forming the backbone of its progress.
