During the arrest, authorities seized several items, including tools believed to have been used in the theft. The suspect is currently under investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of seven years in prison, a fine, or both if found guilty.

CCTV Footage A Key Factor in Arrest

The breakthrough in the case came after the campsite’s CCTV cameras recorded clear footage of the suspect in action. The video evidence played a crucial role in assisting law enforcement officers in identifying and tracking down the suspect in a short period.

The swift response by the police was also aided by information from the public, who provided valuable leads regarding the case.

Police Urge Public to Stay Vigilant

The Miri police expressed their gratitude to the community for their cooperation in solving the case. They urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities in their neighbourhoods.

“Public assistance is vital in ensuring that crimes are quickly detected and prevented. We encourage everyone to report any unusual activities immediately,” said a police spokesperson.

The incident highlights the importance of security surveillance in deterring crimes and ensuring the safety of properties in public and private spaces.
