MATU – A tragic road accident along Jalan Bruan, Matu, on Saturday afternoon claimed the lives of two children and left an adult seriously injured.
The Matu District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) confirmed receiving an emergency call around 1:13 pm from members of the public reporting the incident.
At the scene, authorities found that a car had been involved in the accident. The victims included one adult and two children.
The adult suffered injuries to the head and face, while the two children were pronounced dead on-site by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health.
Emergency responders quickly transported the injured adult to Daro Hospital for treatment. The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
The accident has raised concern among local residents and highlighted ongoing road safety issues in rural districts like Matu.
Authorities frequently remind motorists to exercise caution, especially on smaller roads where visibility and conditions can be challenging.
APM Matu expressed appreciation to the public for promptly reporting the incident, which allowed emergency services to respond quickly.
The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to assisting in emergencies and urged residents to contact the District Operations Control Centre in urgent situations.
