KUCHING – The much-loved annual community event, Mayor Walk 2025, is making its return for the 7th edition to promote healthy living, environmental awareness, and community spirit. The walk is set to take place on Sunday, 17 August 2025 at 6:00 AM at the MBKS Boulevard.
Launched in 2017 as part of MBKS’ Youth, Culture, and Sports Programme, the Mayor Walk has grown into a key highlight in Kuching South’s calendar, drawing thousands of participants from all walks of life.
Dato Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of Kuching South, said the event is more than just a fitness activity – it represents the city’s commitment to building a healthier and more connected society.
“Mayor Walk brings together residents of all ages — young and old, families and friends — to walk side by side in a spirit of unity. This is what makes Kuching South a truly caring, safe, and inclusive city,” said Dato Wee.
He added that the event supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:
- Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being
- Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals
The walk has become a multigenerational tradition, with three generations often joining together. For younger participants, the event also offers lessons in appreciating green spaces and biodiversity across the city.

Dato Wee also praised the City Joggers Club (CJC), which has been the official event partner since the inaugural walk in 2017, for their consistent role in event planning and volunteer management.
How to Join:
Registration is now open via the iPeople platform. Only registered participants will be eligible for the official Mayor Walk 2025 t-shirts.
T-Shirt Collection Details:
- Friday, 15 August 2025 – 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
- Saturday, 16 August 2025 – 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Participants must show their iPeople registration QR code when collecting their t-shirts.
