MBKS Extends Gawai Aid to Sungai Apong Baru Families

KUCHING – In the spirit of Gawai Dayak, the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has reached out to 50 families in Sungai Apong Baru through a food aid distribution programme aimed at easing the burden of vulnerable households during the festive season.

The initiative was led by Dato Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of Kuching South, who personally handed over the packages to the recipients.

He emphasised that festive occasions are a time for unity and gratitude and highlighted the importance of ensuring that assistance reaches those who may need additional support.

“Gawai Dayak is a celebration that brings families and communities together. Through this programme, we hope to ease the burden of the recipients and help them prepare for the festive season with greater peace of mind,” said Dato Wee during the event.

The food aid packages contained essential household items and daily necessities, enabling families to prepare for the celebrations with less financial strain.
