Held at the Kuching Yi Qi Tang Guan Di Temple, the event gathered temple caretakers, committee members, volunteers, devotees, VIP guests, and media representatives for a night of cultural reverence and unity. The Mayor expressed his heartfelt gratitude for being invited to such a meaningful celebration, which honors the timeless virtues of Guan Di Gong — loyalty, righteousness, benevolence, courage, and trust.

“Guan Di Gong is not only a historical figure from ancient tales but also a protector in our everyday lives — a deity of peace at home, prosperity in business, and a moral compass for all of us,” said the Mayor.

He also commended the temple’s continuous efforts in promoting Guan Gong’s values and preserving Chinese culture. “Seeing the dedication of the temple’s leaders, volunteers, and the strong support from the community is truly encouraging. This unity reflects the most valuable asset of our Sarawak society.”

More than just a religious ceremony, the event was described as a meaningful occasion to foster unity and cultural continuity — aligning with Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030. The Mayor emphasized that cultural traditions and faith play a crucial role in maintaining social stability and public confidence.

“Tonight’s celebration is a reflection of the harmony that defines Sarawak — a land where multi-racial communities respect and support one another. Events like this bring our cultural richness to life,” he said.

In closing, the Mayor wished for continued blessings from Guan Di Gong, peace and harmony in the nation, and the everlasting flame of Guan Gong’s spirit for generations to come.
