MBKS Ramadan Programme Brings Bubur Lambuk to Stutong Bazaar

KUCHING – The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) continued its annual Ramadan initiative today with the distribution of Bubur Lambuk at the Stutong Ramadan Bazaar.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.

He was joined by Dato Wee Hong Seng, Mayor of MBKS, and Dato Zaiedi Suhaili, Deputy Mayor of MBKS, along with councillors from the city council.

The Bubur Lambuk distribution is part of MBKS’s wider Ramadan Programme, which aims to foster community spirit and highlight the values of sharing and compassion during the holy month.

The initiative has become a meaningful tradition, reflecting the council’s commitment to engaging with residents and supporting festive activities.

Bubur Lambuk, a spiced rice porridge traditionally prepared and shared during Ramadan, holds cultural significance across Malaysia. It is often distributed at mosques, bazaars, and community centres, symbolising generosity and unity.

The MBKS effort at Stutong Bazaar continues this tradition, ensuring that the community can enjoy the dish together.

Speaking at the event, officials emphasised that such programmes are not only about food distribution but also about strengthening ties between local government and the public.

The presence of senior leaders underscored the importance placed on community engagement during festive seasons.

The Ramadan Programme by MBKS has previously included various outreach activities, from food aid to public health awareness campaigns.

This year’s Bubur Lambuk distribution adds to the council’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity and togetherness among Kuching residents.

Local visitors to the bazaar welcomed the initiative, noting that it brought a festive atmosphere and encouraged a sense of belonging.

The event also highlighted the role of MBKS in supporting cultural traditions while maintaining its focus on public service.

As Ramadan continues, MBKS reaffirmed its dedication to organising meaningful programmes that reflect the values of care, unity, and community support.

The Bubur Lambuk distribution at Stutong Bazaar stands as a reminder of the importance of sharing and togetherness during the blessed month.
