KUCHING: After serving in the education sector for 37 years, Mdm Amrit Kaur Khaira officially retired on May 4, 2026, marking the end of a long and dedicated teaching career.
Born on May 5, 1966, Mdm Amrit spent nearly four decades educating and guiding students in various schools throughout her career. She was widely respected for her passion, commitment, and contribution to the English language field.
Among her most notable achievements was leading SK St Joseph, Kuching to national success in 2014. During her time as the school’s English Panel Head, the school emerged as the national champion in the Choral Speaking competition, bringing pride and recognition to Sarawak.
To honour her years of service, a special retirement celebration was organised with a Bollywood-themed extravaganza. The colourful event featured music, dance, laughter, emotional moments, and performances, reflecting the memorable journey of a teacher’s life filled with challenges and meaningful experiences.
Friends, colleagues, former students, and guests attended the farewell event to express their appreciation for her dedication and sacrifices throughout her years in education.
Many described Mdm Amrit as an inspiring educator who had touched the lives of countless students and colleagues over the years.
