LIMBANG – Hujung Jalan Medamit PPS, which was opened on 7 March 2026 to accommodate flood victims, closed officially at 12.30pm Wednesday after water receded and conditions had returned to normal in the Hujong Jalan Medamit area.
A total of 10 people, five men and five women, had been moved to the PPS due to heavy rain that flooded low-lying areas. With some floodwaters fully receding, residents were able to safely return home.
The situation at the PPS had been well-managed with the collaboration of several agencies, namely APM (Civil Defence Force), Social Welfare Department (JKM), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Ministry of Health (KKM) and Information Department, he added. The families affected by the operation were given food aid, while the electricity supply was restored.
District Officer Sulaiman Engal and Bukit Kota Assemblyman YB Datuk Paulus Gumbang visited the centre to check on the situation and discuss matters with APM and PDRM officers. Meanwhile, their presence served to reinforce the significance of multi-agency disaster management operations in Limbang.
Officials thanked all agencies and volunteers involved in the recovery effort, noting their coordination and dedication provided for the safety and well-being of those who were victimised. The closure of the PPS is a positive sign, but officials are still asking residents in flood-prone areas to exercise caution, particularly during heavy rain.
The quick closing of the PPS is an example of good disaster response measures in place and demonstrates the local community is ready to face seasonal weather challenges.
