MERADONG – Police in Meradong carried out an Integrated Crime Prevention Operation on 11 May 2026, aimed at strengthening community safety and deterring criminal activity across the district.
The operation, which ran from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm, was led by Insp. Mohd Salman Zulfitri bin Sheekandar as field officer, with Insp. Norfadilah binti Zainal serving as Assistant Field Officer.
A total of 16 officers and personnel were deployed to conduct patrols, snap checks, and roadblocks in identified crime-prone areas.
Key locations targeted during the operation included Jalan Kelupu, Jalan KJD, Jalan Bakong, Jalan Kilang, residential estates, and the main entrance to Bintangor.
These areas were selected based on their status as hot spots for potential criminal activity, with the intention of increasing police visibility and reassuring the public.
Throughout the day, officers checked 85 individuals, comprising 55 men and 30 women. In addition, 78 vehicles were inspected during the operation.
While no arrests or seizures were recorded, police issued six traffic summonses for various offences. The initiative reflects the district police’s commitment to proactive crime prevention measures.
By maintaining a strong presence in areas of concern, authorities aim to deter unlawful behaviour and reinforce public confidence in local law enforcement.
Operations of this nature are part of a wider strategy across Sarawak to reduce crime rates and ensure community safety.
