BINTANGOR – The Meradong District Police (IPD) is set to see improved collaboration and support following a courtesy visit by its senior officers to Meradong State Assemblyman (ADUN), Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, at his service centre on Wednesday.
Led by Meradong District Police Chief, DSP Tansli Mering, the visit was held from 10am to 11.30am and aimed to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss key concerns surrounding security and infrastructure in the district.
During the meeting, DSP Tansli reported that Meradong’s overall crime situation remains under control, with 48 cases recorded as of July 2025. However, 42 of these involve narcotics-related offences, signalling a worrying trend that requires immediate attention.
The police chief also raised concerns about the ageing infrastructure at the IPD, including deteriorating buildings, poorly maintained roads within police quarters, insufficient street lighting, and neglected recreational facilities.
In response, Datuk Ding pledged his full support and proposed several improvements through the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), including the installation of solar-powered streetlights, road repairs in the quarters, and upgrades to both the children’s playground and the old IPD office.
He also acknowledged the growing threat of narcotics and online scams in the community, expressing his readiness to work alongside local police to strengthen operational capabilities and deliver long-term safety solutions for Meradong.
“This collaboration is key to ensuring that the people of Meradong feel safe and well-supported. I will bring these concerns to the DUN level so they receive the attention they deserve,” he said.
The meeting reflects a strong commitment between elected leaders and law enforcement to uphold public safety and improve living and working conditions for security personnel in the district.
