Mini Library Spurs Knowledge Growth and Unity in Kampung Sesok

Mini Library Spurs Knowledge Growth and Unity in Kampung Sesok

MUKAH – The recently completed mini library in Kampung Sesok is poised to become a vital catalyst for educational advancement and community development, according to Deputy Minister of Economy, Dato Hanifah Hajar Taib.

Constructed with an allocation of RM100,000, the mini library represents more than just a reading space—it is viewed as a symbol of social transformation for rural communities. Dato Hanifah, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Mukah, emphasised that the facility is intended to bridge generational knowledge gaps and foster intergenerational unity.

“This mini library is not only a place to access books but also a platform where the wisdom of senior citizens can be shared with the digitally inclined younger generation,” she said.

Dato Hanifah also highlighted the Rahmah Sale initiative, held alongside the community carnival, as a significant effort to reduce the burden of living costs for rural residents. Through the programme, essential goods were made available at more affordable prices, helping locals access necessities without travelling to distant towns.

Meanwhile, Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) Chairman, Cr Aini Suhaili, noted that the project aligns with the government’s commitment to comprehensive rural development.

“Despite its modest size, this facility has a major impact. It nurtures a culture of reading, offers a comfortable air-conditioned environment, and becomes a knowledge hub that helps shape a well-informed and competitive younger generation,” he remarked.

He encouraged all Kampung Sesok Baru residents to actively utilise the library and transform it into an inclusive space for learning and social engagement.

The initiative highlights the government’s focus on improving the quality of life in rural Sarawak through education and accessibility to knowledge resources.
