Miri Aidilfitri Contribution Programme Supports Local Families

MIRI, 15 March 2026 – The Miri Division Islamic Religious Office hosted its annual Aidilfitri Contribution Programme for the year 1447H/2026M, aimed at easing the financial burden of families in preparation for the upcoming Syawal celebrations.

The event was attended by Sahibus Siyadah Ustaz Mual bin Haji Suaud and his wife, alongside several key figures, including Ustazah Hanisah binti Nahrawi, Head of the Development Division; Ustaz Awang Abdul Rahim bin Awang Roseley, Miri Division Islamic Religious Officer, and representatives from the Miri Division Secretariat (USK).

The programme focused on providing assistance to selected recipients from the local community, particularly those identified as needing support during the festive season. Contributions were distributed to help ease household expenses, ensuring that families could celebrate Aidilfitri with greater comfort and joy.

Organisers highlighted that the initiative reflects the values of compassion and solidarity, which are central to the spirit of Ramadan and Syawal. By offering aid, the programme not only provides material support but also strengthens community ties and reinforces the importance of caring for one another.

The Miri Division Islamic Religious Office has consistently carried out similar programmes in recent years, with the aim of ensuring that no family is left behind during major religious celebrations. Leaders present at the event emphasised that such contributions are vital in promoting inclusivity and fostering a sense of belonging among all members of society.

Community representatives expressed appreciation for the initiative, noting that it helps relieve financial pressures while encouraging recipients to embrace the festive season with gratitude and positivity. The act of giving, they added, benefits both the giver and the receiver, creating a cycle of goodwill that strengthens social harmony.

As Sarawak continues to encourage programmes that combine faith with social responsibility, the Aidilfitri Contribution Programme in Miri stands as a reminder of the importance of collective care. It reflects the broader effort to ensure that celebrations are not only joyous but also meaningful, rooted in values of empathy and unity.
