Driver Injured in Car Crash on Jalan Airport Flyover in Miri

MIRI – A man was injured after the car he was driving was involved in an accident on the Jalan Airport flyover here last night.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), they received an emergency call regarding the incident at around 9.15pm.

A team from the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene to assist the victim.

“The firefighters carried out rescue operations but did not need to use any special equipment since the victim was not trapped inside the car,” a JBPM spokesperson said.

He added that the victim was safely removed from the vehicle before being handed over to the Miri Hospital medical team for further treatment.

The operation ended at 9.40pm after firefighters ensured the scene was safe and cleared of any hazards.

Authorities have not disclosed further details about the cause of the accident, but the incident has once again highlighted the need for motorists to remain cautious when driving along the Jalan Airport flyover, especially at night.

This flyover, which connects major routes in Miri, is often busy with traffic during peak hours. Police are expected to conduct further investigations into the case.

Members of the public are reminded to practice safe driving habits, including observing speed limits and staying alert on elevated roads such as flyovers.
