MIRI – A vibrant celebration of unity and patriotism unfolded at the Kampung Pulau Melayu JKKK Hall on Saturday, as the Jiwa @ Community Madani Programme brought together residents from all walks of life in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 festivities.
Organized by the Miri District Information Department in collaboration with the Kampung Pulau Melayu Community Madani, the event featured a diverse lineup of activities designed to foster family bonding, artistic expression, and national pride.
From children’s colouring contests to decorated motorcycle competitions and patriotic quizzes, the programme offered something for everyone.
The event was officiated by Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts, cum Piasau Assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, who praised the local community for their strong cooperation and active involvement.
“This celebration reflects the unity and patriotism of Sarawakians. It’s more than just an annual event, it’s a platform to strengthen community ties and instil national pride,” he said.
Also in attendance was Piasau SUPP Youth Chief Councillor Leslie Lau, who later officiated the prize-giving and lucky draw sessions, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Among the highlights was the HKHM 2025 motorcycle convoy, which symbolically hoisted the Jalur Gemilang at government buildings and homes, reinforcing the spirit of patriotism.
The programme echoed similar initiatives held across Malaysia, such as the Sejati Madani series in Miri and Tawau, which aim to empower grassroots communities and promote civic engagement.
The Jiwa @ Community Madani Programme continues to serve as a meaningful bridge between citizens and national identity, celebrating Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage while encouraging active participation in community development.
