MIRI – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Miri Operations Unit, in collaboration with the Miri Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT), conducted a joint snap inspection and enforcement operation last night. The initiative targeted areas in Miri known for illegal racing activities and other traffic violations.
The operation, which ran from 7:00 PM to 3:00 AM, focused on several high-risk locations. A total of 86 motorcycles were inspected, with authorities identifying multiple offences. Among the most common violations were:
- Driving without a valid licence
- Expired motor vehicle licences (LKM)
- Unauthorised modifications to vehicle structure or equipment
- Technical faults and non-compliance with roadworthiness standards
All detected offences were addressed in accordance with existing traffic laws, with appropriate penalties imposed on violators.
A spokesperson for JPJ Sarawak expressed gratitude to JSPT Miri for their cooperation and emphasised the importance of such joint operations.
The department reiterated its commitment to strengthening enforcement efforts to ensure safer, more orderly roads for all users.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to deter illegal racing, reduce traffic violations, and promote road safety awareness within the community.
The collaboration between JPJ and JSPT underscores the Sarawak Government’s ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and maintain law and order on the state’s roads.
