Miri Police Honour Retired Officers with Bakul Rahmah

MIRI – The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to honouring former personnel through a special appreciation event held at the Miri District Police Headquarters. The ceremony, which formed part of the official working visit by Sarawak Police Commissioner CP Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah, highlighted the force’s enduring camaraderie.

Ten retired police officers received Bakul Rahmah contributions during the gathering at Rumah PERKEP, symbolising the institution’s gratitude for their dedicated service to national security and community safety. Each hamper contained essential household goods, representing the force’s continued concern for the welfare of its former members beyond their active duty years.

The Commissioner’s visit provided significant leadership engagement at the ground level, allowing for direct interaction with serving officers while formally recognising retirees’ contributions. The event served to strengthen bonds between current and former personnel, reinforcing the concept of the police force as an extended family.

“This programme reflects our spirit of appreciation for those who have devoted their careers to public service,” a senior officer noted during the proceedings. The gathering emphasised that professional relationships within the police community continue to hold importance long after formal retirement.

The occasion also allowed senior leadership to observe current operational initiatives and welfare support systems within the Miri district. Through such gestures, the Sarawak Police Contingent reaffirms its dedication to member wellbeing regardless of service status.

Several high-ranking officials accompanied the Commissioner, including Head of the Sarawak Management Department SAC Mohd Rizal Abdul Rahman Sidek and Head of the Sarawak Special Branch SAC Mahbub Mustofa Norsalim. Also present were heads of various investigative departments and logistical divisions.

Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah and his deputy SUPT Nur Ashyikin Abdullah joined local PERKEP branch members in hosting the event. The collective presence of both serving and retired officers created a meaningful dialogue about maintaining the force’s valued traditions.

This initiative represents PDRM’s broader commitment to fostering unity and mutual support within its ranks, ensuring that the dedication of retired officers remains acknowledged and valued by the law enforcement community they served.
