Miri Temple’s Rice Drive Fosters Community Unity

MIRI – A significant charitable initiative demonstrating communal solidarity has taken place in Miri, with the Sea Dragon Temple distributing essential supplies to thousands of vulnerable residents.

The temple organised its eleventh annual rice donation drive, reinforcing its role as a pillar of cross-community support.

Datuk Seri Lee emphasised that social cohesion is the fundamental bedrock of Sarawak’s continued prosperity and stability.

He stressed the necessity of preserving this peace to enable ongoing development and to achieve the state’s ambition of becoming a high-income region by 2030.

This year’s drive resulted in the distribution of a substantial volume of aid. More than 10,000 bags of rice, each weighing 10kg, were provided to beneficiaries from all racial and religious backgrounds, highlighting the inclusive nature of the endeavour.

The activity attracted hundreds of volunteers and philanthropists, who coordinated to ensure the rice reached needy families throughout the Miri area.

The scale of participation underscored the widespread community endorsement for the charitable mission.

The annual event has become a fixture in Miri’s civic calendar, not only promoting the virtue of giving but also establishing the Sea Dragon Temple as a recognised symbol of care and unity within Sarawak’s diverse social fabric.
