Miri Teen Arrested Over Suspected Property Crime in Taman Tunku

Miri, 5 April 2024 – A 19-year-old local man has been detained by the Miri District Police (IPD Miri) to assist in an ongoing investigation involving a property crime in the area.

According to police sources, the suspect was arrested at around 10.30am on Saturday at a residence located along Jalan Kuching Timur, Miri. The arrest was carried out by the Criminal Investigation Division of IPD Miri.

During the operation, police discovered a green and red gas cylinder at an unnumbered hut in Kampung Lusut Jaya 5E, Taman Tunku. The item is believed to be linked to the property crime currently being investigated.

Authorities are now looking into whether the case is connected to a previous property theft incident reported in the same district. As investigations are still ongoing, the police have not dismissed the possibility of a broader criminal link.

A police spokesperson stated that the investigation is still at an early stage, and public cooperation is crucial in solving the case. Members of the public who may have any information related to the incident are strongly encouraged to come forward and assist the police.

“We urge anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area or has any information to contact the nearest police station,” the spokesperson added.

The case is being handled with urgency, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The police remain committed to maintaining public safety and bringing those involved in criminal activity to justice. — Polis Daerah Miri
