Miri Teen Nabbed for Theft Near Bandar Baru Permyjaya

MIRI, 12 April 2025 – An 18-year-old local man was arrested by police on suspicion of theft in Miri, Sarawak. The arrest, which took place on the night of 11 April, was part of an ongoing operation by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri).

The suspect was detained at approximately 10.05 pm near Jalan Dato Permaisuri 2, Bandar Baru Permyjaya. Acting on intelligence, the police team moved swiftly and managed to apprehend the teenager without resistance.

During the arrest, police also seized several items believed to have been stolen. These items are now part of the investigation as evidence under Section 380 of the Penal Code, which deals with theft in dwelling places.

The suspect has been placed under police custody to assist in further investigations. Authorities are now working to trace the origins of the seized items and to determine if the suspect is linked to other similar cases in the area.

District police have urged the public, especially those living in residential zones around Bandar Baru Permyjaya, to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
