Mobile Service 2U Expands Access to Government Services in Bintangor

Mobile Service 2U Expands Access to Government Services in Bintangor

BINTANGOR — The SUPP Bintangor branch’s “Mobile Service 2U” initiative continued its rural outreach at Rumah Jin, Sungai Meradong on Saturday, bringing essential government services directly to longhouse residents.

Meradong Assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing personally oversaw the program, which facilitated applications for the Kenyalang Gold Card, Senior Citizen Health Benefits, and Rahmah Cash Assistance (STR).

“Through 12 mobile sessions this year, we’ve witnessed overwhelming response in Meradong,” stated Datuk Ding. The program serves dual purposes: resolving community issues through on-ground engagement while explaining government development initiatives.

Counter services recorded 78 applications during Saturday’s session alone, primarily from elderly residents facing transportation barriers to urban centres.

The assemblyman confirmed systematic expansion across all zoning sectors:

  • Longhouse Circuit: Monthly visits to 3-4 longhouses
  • Rural Coverage: Fortnightly services to remote villages
  • Service Expansion: Adding MyKasih and utility bill assistance

“This transcends politics,” emphasized Ding. “SUPP assists all communities regardless of ethnicity or religion.” The initiative aligns with Sarawak’s rural digitalization goals, with future phases incorporating e-wallet registration for STR disbursements. Since 2023, Mobile Service 2U has processed over 1,200 applications across Meradong’s 32 longhouses.

Resident Jangga Masing praised the convenience: “Previously, traveling to Bintangor took three hours. Now services come to us.” SUPP Bintangor will deploy additional mobile units by Q4 2025 to reduce wait times.
