MPKS, Asajaya District Office Forge Stronger Ties for Rural Development

MPKS, Asajaya District Office Forge Stronger Ties for Rural Development

ASAJAYA — The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has formalized enhanced collaboration with the Asajaya District Office through a high-level delegation visit on Friday, targeting coordinated implementation of community development programs across the region.

Led by MPKS Chairman Dato Abang Ismawi Abang Ali alongside Deputy Chairman Daily Joseph and Secretary Gustian Durani, the engagement established frameworks for joint initiatives in social welfare, research, and high-impact projects.

“This partnership ensures our programs align precisely with local needs while elevating service standards,” stated Abang Ismawi during the bilateral meeting at the District Office.

The strategic alliance focuses on three priority areas:

  1. Accelerated Service Delivery: Streamlining permit approvals and infrastructure projects
  2. Community-Centric Programs: Co-designing initiatives with resident feedback mechanisms
  3. Research Integration: Utilizing data for evidence-based rural development

This cooperation advances Sarawak’s inclusive development agenda, particularly for MPKS-administered zones and Asajaya’s hinterland communities. District Officer Azmi Bujang emphasized the partnership’s potential to “strengthen the development chain” through shared resources and expertise.

The councils will establish monthly coordination committees to address pressing needs—from road maintenance to youth entrepreneurship—with initial projects targeting digital literacy programs for senior citizens and drainage upgrades in flood-prone villages.

The collaboration aligns with the state’s Post-COVID Development Strategy 2030 benchmarks for rural service efficiency.
