MPKS Cleans Illegal Dumping Sites, Strengthens Environmental Protection

KOTA SAMARAHAN – The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has launched a major clean-up campaign targeting illegal dumping sites in the Tanjung Bundong industrial area, highlighting its commitment to protecting the environment and public well-being.

Starting on 21 January, the operation focused on clearing affected areas to ensure they remain safe and free from pollution. MPKS reported that the clean-up removed waste equivalent to 15 collection trips, restoring cleanliness in the targeted zones.

Council representatives noted that the initiative demonstrates MPKS’s determination to tackle the growing issue of illegal dumping, which threatens both the environment and public health.

Beyond this clean-up, MPKS announced that follow-up actions will extend to four other identified hotspots for illegal waste disposal. The council also plans to implement continuous monitoring and stricter enforcement measures to deter irresponsible practices.

Officials urged the public to play an active role by reporting illegal dumping activities, stressing that community cooperation is key to maintaining cleanliness and ensuring a sustainable environment for future generations.

Through stronger enforcement and expanded clean-up efforts, MPKS aims to create a cleaner, healthier environment while raising awareness about responsible waste management.
