PADAWAN – The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has begun clearing illegal planting activities in open spaces under its jurisdiction, reinforcing its responsibility to maintain public safety and environmental cleanliness.
The initiative targets unauthorised planting carried out on council-owned land and along roadsides. Such activities, according to MPP, can cause inconvenience to nearby residents, disrupt maintenance works, and pose risks to public safety.
Council representatives explained that while community involvement in greening efforts is appreciated, planting in unauthorised areas often leads to complications.
These include obstruction of drainage systems, interference with road visibility, and difficulties in carrying out scheduled maintenance.
The council has reminded residents that open spaces are managed for the benefit of the wider community and must remain accessible, safe, and properly maintained.
By removing illegal planting, MPP aims to ensure that public areas are kept orderly and free from hazards.
In its statement, the council expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and emphasised the importance of shared responsibility in keeping Padawan clean and well-managed.
The move is part of broader efforts to strengthen urban management and uphold environmental standards across the municipality.
The clearance exercise reflects MPP’s ongoing commitment to balancing community needs with regulatory requirements.
By addressing unauthorised planting, the council seeks to prevent potential nuisances while promoting a cleaner and safer environment for all residents.
