KUCHING – Majlis Perbandaran Padawan (MPP) has entered into a strategic partnership with Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed during the Sarawak Career & Training Fair (SCaT Fair) 2026 at Hikmah Exchange Event Centre on 6 June.
The MoA exchange was witnessed by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Johari Tun Openg, underscoring the importance of the collaboration for the state’s future workforce and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The agreement represents a significant step towards strengthening cooperation in areas such as talent development, entrepreneurship, innovation, and community capacity-building.
Both MPP and TEGAS have committed to working together to create programmes that will empower local communities with digital skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and future-ready capabilities.
Through this partnership, residents in the Padawan area are expected to benefit from initiatives designed to enhance employability and support small business growth.
The collaboration also aims to encourage innovation among young people, providing them with opportunities to explore new technologies and creative solutions.
The SCaT Fair, where the MoA was formalised, serves as a platform to connect jobseekers, students, and employers.
It highlights Sarawak’s commitment to preparing its workforce for evolving industries while promoting lifelong learning and career advancement.
MPP has emphasised that the partnership with TEGAS will not only provide training opportunities but also foster a culture of entrepreneurship.
By equipping individuals with practical skills and knowledge, the initiative seeks to strengthen community resilience and economic sustainability.
TEGAS, known for its role in nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship across Sarawak, will bring its expertise in digital empowerment and start-up development to the collaboration.
This is expected to complement MPP’s efforts in community engagement and local development. Observers note that the partnership reflects Sarawak’s broader vision of building a knowledge-based economy.
By investing in talent and innovation, the state aims to position itself as a hub for sustainable growth and modernisation.
The signing of the MoA marks a milestone in Sarawak’s journey towards empowering its people with the tools needed to thrive in a rapidly changing global environment.
With strong support from the state leadership, the collaboration between MPP and TEGAS is set to deliver long-term benefits for communities in Padawan and beyond.
