11 Associations and JKKKs in Puyut & Lubuk Nibung Receive RM153,000 in MRP Grants

MULU – A total of 11 associations, organisations, and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) from the Puyut and Lubuk Nibung areas have received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant cheques totalling RM153,000, in a ceremony held at the Mulu Service Centre on Monday.

The presentation was officiated by State Assemblyman (ADUN) for N.78 Mulu, Datuk Gerawat Gala, who highlighted that the disbursement of the funds demonstrates the Sarawak Government’s continuous commitment to rural development and community well-being.

“This allocation needs to be used as soon as possible so that the benefits can be felt immediately by the community,” he said.

Emphasis on Accountability and Transparency

Datuk Gerawat also reminded all recipients to submit complete reports on how the MRP funds are used, as part of best practices in accountability.

He further advised committee chairpersons to clearly communicate the purpose and scope of the grant expenditure to their members and villagers to avoid any confusion and to ensure transparency in managing public funds.

“The amount allocated is based on the official application submitted, and recipients must understand the limits and scope of the approval given,” he added.

This initiative forms part of the ADUN’s broader mission to empower grassroots machinery, strengthen local organisations, and bolster development efforts in rural Mulu.
