Sarawak Clinches 4 Gold at ASEAN Youth Muaythai 2025 in Selangor

SELANGOR: The Sarawak contingent made a remarkable showing at the inaugural ASEAN Group & Youth Muaythai Championship 2025, bringing home a total of four gold, five silver, and one bronze medals.

The championship, held yesterday at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya, saw nine talented athletes from Sarawak reach the finals, with four ultimately claiming the top podium spots.

Razie Rafizzie won gold in the 55kg category after a strong bout against Muhammad Adam from Selangor. Meanwhile, Muhammad Syarul Fareez triumphed in the 50kg category, defeating Ali Murtaza, also representing Selangor.

Sarawak’s female athletes contributed significantly to the medal haul. Noor Qasliya Mohamad Hardi captured gold in the 40kg category, overcoming Aisya Sofea of Muaythai Kuala Lumpur, while Hani Anissa Ismail secured gold in the 60kg category, defeating Dinar Fitrah from Negeri Sembilan.

Silver medals went to Fatiha Hanum Abdul Hasrul (45kg), Muhammad Nur Aiman Kamaruddin (66kg), Mohammad Nurhizbur Asyraf Mohd Nazri (50kg), Rizz Ezzandy Iswandy (40kg), and Dylan Casey Daniel (40kg). Muhammad Rizqin (45kg) rounded off the medal tally with a bronze.

Sarawak State Muaythai Association (PMNS) president Haji Jumaat Ibrahim expressed his satisfaction with the athletes’ performance. “It is a good start for our young athletes. They must continue to train hard and sharpen their skills. Experience gained here will prepare them for larger events,” he said.

Jumaat also emphasized the importance of ongoing preparation, revealing that the association would participate in many competitions leading up to SUKMA 2026 in Selangor. He extended his gratitude to the Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS), Sarawak Sports Council (SSC), the coaches, and the Malaysian Muaythai Association (PMM) for their support and dedication in developing Sarawak athletes. — UKAS EDITION
