MUKAH – In a demonstration of unity and goodwill, various government agencies congregated in front of Wisma Persekutuan Mukah to hold a Bubur Lambuk Distribution Programme in conjunction with the blessed month of Ramadan.
The event, which was organised by Wisma Persekutuan, involved the participation of several agencies such as Road Transport Department (JPJ), Malaysian Immigration Department, Civil Defence Department (JPAM), RELA, National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Ministry of Health Malaysia, and the Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN)
JPJ Mukah, headed by its Branch Head Puan Dayang Feridzah Awang Kadir, was also there in a group to hand out the traditional porridge to the public. Their participation highlighted the department’s continued commitment to community involvement and assistance during the holy month.
They said the programme wasn’t just about sharing food but also focused on building relationships between agencies and improving connections with the local community. Through a collective effort, the initiative also underlined the values of cooperation, compassion and inclusion that Ramadan embodies.
Residents of Mukah welcomed the effort and said such programmes not only brought joy but also strengthened the spirit of togetherness in Mukah. The sharing of bubur lambuk, a dish closely tied to Ramadan in Malaysia, took on deeper cultural significance and served as a reminder for participants of how important it is to share one’s blessings.
Officials also emphasised that initiatives such as this help bridge the gap between government institutions and those they serve. Not only does this show community members that agencies are concerned about their wellbeing, but it also helps to galvanise stakeholders in business and government.
The programme closed with organisers hoping this small act would be a long-lasting reminder of love to the community. They said the event was in line with their broader calling to reinforce solidarity and togetherness that continues to permeate Sarawak’s social roots.
