MUKAH – An elderly man was rushed to Mukah Hospital on Wednesday after emergency responders received a call reporting sudden weakness in his limbs.
The incident was reported to the Mukah District Civil Defence Force (APM Mukah), which confirmed that its members were dispatched to assist the victim. The man was found in a room unable to move properly, prompting immediate medical attention.
Responders transferred the patient onto a trolley stretcher before placing him in an ambulance for transport to Mukah Hospital. Medical staff there are expected to carry out further examinations and provide treatment.
The case highlights the importance of rapid intervention in suspected stroke or neurological emergencies. According to health experts, sudden weakness in the arms or legs can be an early sign of serious conditions such as stroke, which requires urgent hospital care to reduce long-term complications.
Local authorities have reminded residents that emergency services are available around the clock. APM Mukah operates a 24-hour hotline at 084-872814, ensuring that assistance can be requested at any time. The organisation has also reiterated its public safety message: “There is a disaster; call APM.”
Community members have praised the swift response, noting that timely action can make a significant difference in patient outcomes. The APM Mukah team continues to encourage the public to remain vigilant and to seek immediate help if they encounter similar medical emergencies.
The Civil Defence Force plays a crucial role in Sarawak, not only in disaster management but also in supporting health-related emergencies. Their presence in Mukah provides reassurance to residents, particularly in rural areas where access to immediate medical care can be limited.
This latest case serves as a reminder of the importance of community awareness and preparedness. Authorities urge families to recognise warning signs of medical distress and to act quickly by contacting emergency services.
APM Mukah has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, with its motto “APM Mukah, Nang Steady” reflecting its readiness to respond to crises.
