MUKAH – The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ), through its Mukah Branch Operations Unit, conducted a focused enforcement exercise on 21 April 2026 aimed at commercial and goods vehicles.
Known as Ops Breaking, the initiative involved patrols and monitoring around Mukah Town and along the Mukah-Igan-Matu Road.
A total of 60 vehicles of different categories were inspected during the operation. Officers identified several violations, including drivers operating without a valid Commercial Driving Licence (CDL), absence of a Goods Driving Licence (GDL), and other technical faults relating to vehicle safety and compliance.
JPJ confirmed that enforcement action was taken against all detected offences in accordance with existing laws.
The department emphasised that such measures are vital to ensuring road safety and accountability among transport operators.
Officials explained that the operation was part of a broader strategy to strengthen compliance with road regulations, particularly for heavy and goods vehicles that pose higher risks if operated without proper documentation or maintenance.
The Mukah JPJ Branch reiterated its commitment to intensifying enforcement activities periodically to maintain discipline on the roads.
The department also highlighted that enforcement is not solely punitive but designed to encourage better practices among drivers and companies.
By addressing licensing and technical issues, JPJ aims to reduce accidents and improve safety standards for all road users.
Mukah JPJ stressed that similar operations will continue to be carried out from time to time, ensuring that commercial and goods vehicles adhere strictly to regulations.
The initiative reflects JPJ’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding public safety while reinforcing trust in road transport enforcement.
