BINTANGOR – More than 1,600 individuals have moved closer to obtaining their motorcycle licences through the MyLesen Meradong 2025 initiative. The programme’s latest phase involved the final practical examinations, which were conducted at the Bintangor Community Hall complex.
Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, the Assemblyman for Meradong, officiated the event and offered motivating words to the candidates.
The session marked a significant milestone for the 1,635 participants who had already completed theoretical instruction and initial riding practice under the guidance of certified trainers.
In his address, the Assemblyman extended his gratitude to the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and other collaborating organisations for their role in facilitating the scheme.
He highlighted the programme’s core objective of enabling local youth and residents to secure Class B2 motorcycle licences without facing prohibitive costs.
“This initiative not only eases the financial burden of participants but also supports the government’s effort to cultivate responsible and safety-conscious road users.” Datuk Ding stated.
Such programmes are often viewed as crucial for integrating citizens into the formal transport system, ensuring they are tested and insured.
The practical evaluation was administered directly by officers from the JPJ. The rigorous testing process is designed to ensure all new riders possess the necessary skills to navigate roads safely. The assessment is divided into two critical components, each examining different aspects of riding competence.
The first segment, known as Part 2, took place within a controlled circuit. This segment assessed fundamental vehicle handling abilities, including balance, low-speed control, and obedience to traffic signs in a safe environment. Success in this stage is a prerequisite for advancing to the final test.
Part 3 of the examination involved an evaluation on public roads. This phase is intended to gauge a rider’s competency in dealing with genuine traffic conditions, applying road rules, and demonstrating defensive riding techniques alongside other road users.
The national MyLesen programme is a government-backed endeavour targeted primarily at youths and the B40 income demographic.
Its dual aims are to assist Malaysians in acquiring legally required driving credentials and to profoundly enhance road safety awareness among one of the most vulnerable groups of road users.
The execution of this programme in Meradong is presented as evidence of the state government’s ongoing dedication to public welfare.
