LUNDU – The Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Dato’ Sri Nancy Shukri, has formally expressed her gratitude to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) as the nation celebrates the 219th Police Day.
During her official visit to the district, she acknowledged the sacrifices of personnel, offering prayers for their continued safety and well-being as they uphold law and order across the state.
The minister emphasised that her presence in Lundu serves as a reaffirmation of the government’s dedication to fostering robust partnerships with security agencies.
According to Dato’ Sri Nancy, maintaining strong cooperation between the ministry and the police is vital for ensuring the holistic welfare and security of local communities.
A significant portion of the visit was dedicated to discussing infrastructure upgrades for the Lundu District Police Headquarters (IPD).
Discussions included the strategic proposal to relocate the facility to a site near CENTEXS Lundu, a move intended to modernise the department’s operational capacity.
The upgrade projects, which fall under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK-12), are currently in the pre-implementation stage.
These plans involve the comprehensive demolition of ageing wooden structures at the Sematan Police Station and the Lundu IPD, which will be replaced by new, permanent facilities designed to meet modern policing requirements.
Beyond infrastructure and security, Dato’ Sri Nancy addressed the broader socio-economic challenges currently facing the nation.
She issued a reminder to the public to practice financial prudence, noting that the combined impacts of global economic instability and climate change are placing additional pressures on household budgets.
To further support community engagement, the Minister presented a donation of two canopies, 100 chairs, and three tables to the IPD Lundu.
These items are intended to facilitate local activities and improve the interaction between the police force and the residents they serve.
The event was attended by the Lundu District Police Chief, Superintendent Sudirman Kram, along with various community representatives and local officials.
By providing these resources and discussing long-term development plans, the visit underscored a shared commitment to strengthening the relationship between law enforcement and the people of Lundu.
