DEBAK – Construction of the new multipurpose hall in Nanga Gayau, Betong, has reached a significant milestone, with physical progress now standing at 74%. The project, which falls under the MADANI Adoption Village Program, is currently on track to be fully completed by May 2026.
An official working visit to the site was led by the Director General of the Biosafety Department, Dr Lornie Enggong, accompanied by a delegation of relevant officials.
The visit commenced with a formal project briefing at the Betong Divisional Public Works Office, where Divisional Engineer Jason Ng Boon Tuan provided an update on the construction status and timelines.
Following the briefing, the delegation proceeded to the construction site to inspect the progress of the building works.
The scope of the project is extensive, encompassing the construction of the primary hall structure, administrative office facilities, modern toilet amenities, and a complete suite of mechanical and electrical systems.
Additionally, the project includes necessary external infrastructure works to ensure the facility is fully operational and accessible.
This multipurpose hall is intended to serve as a cornerstone for community engagement in the Nanga Gayau area.
Once operational, it will function as a hub for social gatherings, community development workshops, and official ceremonies.
By providing a conducive and well-equipped space, the government aims to enhance the social well-being and quality of life for local residents.
Also participating in the site visit were the Chief Assistant Director of the Implementation Coordination Unit (Sri Aman Zone), representatives from the P204 Betong Service Centre, and various local community leaders.
Their presence underscored the collaborative effort between federal and state agencies to deliver essential infrastructure to rural communities.
The Public Works Department (JKR) Betong Division continues to oversee the project’s development. Officials have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the final stages of construction adhere to strict quality and safety standards.
The department’s goal is to ensure that the facility provides long-term value, serving as a robust asset that meets the needs of the local population for years to come.
