SARIKEI – Preparations for the 2025 Sarawak Level National Day Celebration are progressing smoothly with close cooperation from various government agencies and local authorities.
The celebration, which will take place at the Sarikei Civic Hall, is expected to draw thousands of participants and visitors. The event will be officiated by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Also scheduled to be present are the Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, along with several state leaders and distinguished guests.
A full rehearsal session was held on Friday, witnessed by the Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing of Sarawak, Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, who also serves as the Minister responsible for the Sarawak National Day Celebrations 2025. She was joined by the Deputy Minister of Town Planning, Land Administration and Environment of Sarawak, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS), Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
Other key officials present included the Deputy Secretary to the Sarawak Government (Operations), Datu Hii Chang Kee, Sarikei Division Resident, Datu Michael Ronnie Langgong, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing of Sarawak, Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua.
The programme will feature a variety of cultural and patriotic performances such as the raising of the Jalur Gemilang, dance shows, poetry recitations, Angklung performances, Choral Speaking, and the recitation of the pledge.
Adding to the excitement, the National Day Eve Concert will be held on 30 August at the Kampung Seberang Sarikei Integration Sports Complex, expected to draw huge crowds. On 31 August, more than 5,000 participants are anticipated to join the Unity Walk starting from the Sarikei Sports Complex and ending at the Sarikei MARA Field.
Dato Sri Fatimah expressed her satisfaction with the progress and confidence that the celebration will run smoothly and leave a lasting impression on Sarikei residents and visitors alike. — UKAS
