Nationwide Special Ops Enforcement Targets Commercial Vehicle Offenders in Bintulu

Nationwide Special Ops Enforcement Targets Commercial Vehicle Offenders in Bintulu

Bintulu, 17 February 2025 (Monday) – The Bintulu Branch Road Transport Department (RTD) Operations Unit has recently carried out a high-impact enforcement activity aimed at ensuring road safety in the region. The operation, which took place in the bustling Bintulu town centre, along the Bintulu-Miri coastal road, and throughout the Pan Borneo highway, involved the inspection of 152 vehicles, with multiple violations detected.

This initiative is part of the nationwide Special Technical Raid Operation, a series of coordinated efforts launched at the end of 2024, which aims to enforce strict compliance with road safety regulations. The RTD’s patrols uncovered several significant infractions, including expired motor vehicle licenses, unregistered insurance coverage, unsafe cargo, and various technical offences relating to vehicle standards.

In line with the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) and other relevant legislation such as the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act 1984 (Act 334) and the Land Public Transport Act 2010 (Act 715), this operation serves as a stern reminder to all drivers and vehicle owners, particularly those of commercial vehicles, to adhere to regulations. The Bintulu enforcement team has stressed that this operation will continue and escalate in intensity, ensuring that violators are held accountable.

JPJ Sarawak is urging all road users to remain vigilant and compliant with the road laws. The department also encourages the public to stay updated on enforcement activities by following the official JPJ Sarawak social media pages for the latest developments.
