Newborn Baby in Sarawak Needs Urgent RM120,000 for Life-Saving Heart Surgery

Newborn Baby in Sarawak Needs Urgent RM120,000 for Life-Saving Heart Surgery

BUKIT MERTAJAM, March 19: A one-month-old baby girl, Nathalie Amanda Anak Ningkan, from Bau, Sarawak, is in urgent need of RM120,000 to undergo life-saving heart surgery. The baby has been diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect and requires immediate medical intervention.

Datuk Chua Sui Hau, Chairman of One Hope Charity & Welfare, stated that Nathalie experienced breathing difficulties right after birth. Doctors discovered that her oxygen levels had dropped dangerously low, leading to her immediate transfer to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for additional oxygen support.

“Medical examinations confirmed that Nathalie suffers from multiple serious heart conditions, including Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), Aortic Stenosis, and Aortic Hypoplasia. Surgery is critical to save her life,” said Datuk Chua in a statement today.

The complex procedure must be performed at a specialist hospital in Kuala Lumpur. However, the baby’s family is unable to afford the RM120,000 required for the operation.

“One Hope Charity & Welfare is stepping in to raise funds from the public to cover the surgery expenses. The hospital in Sarawak has agreed to bear the flight costs for Nathalie and her mother, while the family will handle their travel and accommodation expenses,” he explained.

Nathalie’s father, Ningkan Anak Dickie, 36, works in an oil palm plantation earning a low income, while her mother, Norline Anak Saban, 38, is currently unemployed after giving birth.

Due to the critical nature of her condition, Nathalie has already been flown to Kuala Lumpur and is expected to undergo surgery today.

Members of the public who wish to contribute towards Nathalie’s surgery can do so via the Public Bank Berhad account under One Hope Charity & Welfare (Account Number: 3201428817) or through their website at onehopecharity.org.
