Seven Opar Villages to Receive New Multipurpose Hall for Community Use

Seven Opar Villages to Receive New Multipurpose Hall for Community Use

LUNDU – Residents of seven villages in the Opar State Assembly (DUN Opar) area can soon look forward to having a new multipurpose hall as a site handover ceremony for the construction project was held today.

The villages involved in the project include Kampung Stungkor Baru, Siluk, Sembawang, Jantan, Sedaing, Tebaro, and Serayan Hilir. This development is part of the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) initiative, implemented by the Kuching Division Public Works Department (JKR).

The official handover was officiated by Opar State Assemblyman (ADUN), Billy Sujang, and witnessed by Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Niponi Undek, along with local leaders and residents.

In his address, Billy emphasized that the construction of the hall is more than just a physical facility—it represents community growth and unity.

“This hall is not only a place to gather but a symbol of progress and unity. We must care for it like our own home. Avoid vandalism and misuse. Let it serve future generations,” said Billy.

He also highlighted that the hall will be used as a venue for community meetings, social events, youth activities, emergency coordination, and public service delivery. The project reflects the state’s continuing commitment to bridging the rural-urban development gap.

The construction is expected to begin immediately following the site handover and aims to be completed within the stipulated timeframe set by the contractor and JKR.

This initiative is in line with GKCDA’s ongoing mission to uplift rural communities by providing safe, modern, and practical infrastructure, particularly in underdeveloped areas within the Greater Kuching region.

With this project, the seven villages are set to benefit from better access to social services, stronger community ties, and a boost in local development. — UKAS EDITION
