BAU – The residents of three villages under the Opar State Assembly (DUN) will soon benefit from the construction of new multipurpose halls aimed at enhancing social, economic, and community engagement facilities.

The handover ceremony for the project sites took place on Tuesday at Kampung Opar, Kampung Sepadah, and Kampung Pidilam Stenggang. These projects fall under the New Construction of Multipurpose Halls initiative spearheaded by the Sarawak Government.

Opar State Assemblyman (ADUN), Billy Sujang, said the combined project value totals RM1.1475 million, and the facilities are set to serve as key hubs for community events, meetings, educational programmes, and emergency coordination points.

“This is a tangible example of the government’s commitment to balanced and inclusive development in rural areas such as DUN Opar. These halls are not just buildings — they are platforms for growth, unity, and local empowerment,” he said during the visit.

Billy also extended his gratitude to the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) and the Public Works Department (JKR) Bau for their proactive role in ensuring infrastructure development continues to reach rural communities.

He urged all contractors involved to complete the projects on schedule to ensure the people can enjoy the benefits without delay.

The construction of these multipurpose halls aligns with Sarawak’s broader rural transformation agenda, designed to uplift the quality of life for villagers by providing spaces that encourage civic participation, knowledge sharing, and community resilience.
