15 Foreigners Arrested in Mukah During Ops Gegar and Ops Sapu

MUKAH – The Immigration Department of Malaysia, Sarawak, detained 15 foreigners in an integrated enforcement operation conducted around the Mukah Division late Sunday night. The operation, named Ops Gegar and Ops Sapu, took place between 10.30pm and 5.00am on 11 November 2025.

The operation was led by the Enforcement Division of the Sarawak Immigration Department, with support from the Special Action Team and officers from the Sarikei, Sri Aman, and Sibu Divisions.

A total of four targeted locations were raided during the coordinated effort. Immigration officers inspected 37 individuals — comprising 14 Malaysians and 23 foreigners. From that number, 15 people, including men and women, were detained for various immigration offences.

According to the department, the detained individuals are believed to have violated Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63, which deal with entry and stay without valid documents and overstaying offences.

In addition, an employer suspected of hiring undocumented foreign workers was identified and issued Form 29 for further investigation.

The Sarawak State Immigration Department stated that the operation aimed to curb illegal immigration activities and ensure compliance with Malaysia’s immigration laws.

“The department remains committed to conducting continuous enforcement operations to maintain law and order, particularly in areas identified as hotspots for undocumented foreign workers,” said a spokesperson from the Immigration Department.

The statement added that similar operations will continue throughout Sarawak to strengthen monitoring and enforcement efforts, ensuring that only individuals with valid documentation are allowed to work or stay in the state.

The department also urged the public and employers to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities involving illegal immigrants to the nearest Immigration office.
