JPJ Kuching Cracks Down on Commercial Vehicle Violations in Ops Gempur

KUCHING – The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Kuching launched a targeted enforcement campaign, Ops Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan, yesterday to boost road safety and ensure compliance among commercial vehicle operators. The operation involved members from the JPJ’s Team Foxtrot and Team Echo, focusing on key areas including Bandar Kuching, Samarahan, and Serian.

During the operation, JPJ officers conducted thorough inspections of both commercial and private vehicles. Several offences were detected, including vehicles carrying dangerous loads, breaches of LPKP permit conditions, drivers operating without valid licenses, and other technical violations. Offending vehicles and drivers were issued with appropriate legal actions under existing laws.

A JPJ Kuching spokesperson said the initiative is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to enforce road safety standards and reduce risks on public roads. “Our goal is to ensure that all road users follow the prescribed laws and operate vehicles safely. Ops Gempur is a proactive step in addressing non-compliance, especially among commercial vehicles, which pose higher risks if regulations are ignored,” the spokesperson added.

The department also highlighted that continuous monitoring and enforcement will remain a priority throughout the year. JPJ Kuching plans to conduct further operations targeting high-risk areas and repeat offenders to reinforce the importance of legal compliance and safeguard road users.

Motorists are reminded to adhere strictly to road safety regulations, maintain their vehicles in proper condition, and ensure that all necessary permits and licenses are valid at all times. JPJ Kuching reaffirmed its dedication to creating safer roads for everyone in the region through sustained enforcement and awareness campaigns.
