Ops Jaja Selera Sapu 63 Foreign Nationals Arrested in Kuching

Ops Jaja Selera Sapu: 63 Foreign Nationals Arrested in Kuching

KUCHING – The Immigration Enforcement Division in Kuching successfully detained 63 foreign nationals during Ops Jaja, Selera, Sapu, an integrated operation carried out between 29 and 30 September 2025.

The large-scale operation, which involved 29 enforcement officers, focused on several hotspot areas including Matang, MJC Batu Kawa, and Bau. The raids were carried out to curb the presence of illegal immigrants and ensure compliance with immigration laws in Sarawak’s capital.

According to the Kuching Immigration Department, those arrested were found to have committed various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63. Among the sections violated were Section 6(1)(c) for entering and staying without valid documents, Section 15(1)(c) for overstaying, and Section 56(1)(l) for other immigration-related offences.

The department said the successful arrests reflect its ongoing commitment to tackle the issue of illegal immigrants (PATI) in the state. Authorities stressed that such enforcement actions are necessary to safeguard national sovereignty, social harmony, and public security.

“Ops Jaja, Selera, Sapu is part of our continuous initiative to detect, detain, and deport those who violate immigration laws. We will not compromise when it comes to enforcing national regulations,” the statement read.

The Immigration Department also urged the public to play their role by providing reliable information regarding the presence of illegal immigrants. Public cooperation, it said, is vital to help the authorities in curbing the problem.

This latest operation highlights the seriousness of the government’s stance against those who choose to flout immigration laws, while also ensuring that Malaysia remains safe and orderly for its citizens and legal residents.
