Ops SAR Day 5: Search Continues for Missing Elderly in Skrang

SKRANG – The search for Igoh Anak Sengaling, an 84-year-old man reported missing near Rumah Panjang Tebarong, entered its fifth day on 24 February 2026, with operations continuing in an integrated manner involving multiple agencies and local villagers.

The Sarikei District Civil Defence Force (APM) confirmed that the search effort remains focused on both land and water sectors, with teams working systematically to cover designated areas.

The operation is being coordinated with the participation of APM Lubok Antu, APM Betong, PDRM, JBPM Betong, RELA, and community volunteers.

On Day 4, the search began at 6.08 am and was divided into two groups: one conducting a water search up to 7 kilometres towards Rumah Panjang Pelasok, and another covering land within a 5-kilometre radius from the PKTK command post. However, heavy rain forced the operation to be postponed at 2.00 pm, with plans to resume the following morning.

Day 5 saw renewed efforts, with teams returning to the field at 8.00 am to continue combing the designated search zones. Authorities stressed that the operation remains a priority, with resources mobilised to ensure thorough coverage despite challenging conditions.

APM Lubok Antu has urged the public to provide any relevant information that could assist in locating the missing man. Community cooperation has been vital, with villagers actively joining the search alongside security agencies.

The ongoing operation highlights the importance of coordinated response in rural areas, where terrain and weather can complicate rescue efforts. Authorities remain hopeful that persistence and teamwork will lead to a breakthrough.
