Organisations in Padawan Secure RM377,000 in MRP Phase 4 Grants

PADAWAN – Fifteen organisations in the Mambong constituency have received allocations under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) Phase 4/2025, amounting to RM377,000.

The recipients include Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), local clubs, and church organisations. The funds are intended to support grassroots initiatives and strengthen community development across Padawan.

The symbolic presentation of cheques was officiated by Sarawak Deputy Minister for Transport, Datuk Dr. Jerip Susil, who explained that the handover served as formal notification to the Sarawak Implementation Monitoring Unit (SIMU) that the distribution process had been completed.

Dr. Jerip noted that while the allocations were approved for 2025, some applicants who have yet to receive their grants will be channelled funds in early 2026. He emphasised that the grants must be utilised responsibly to ensure maximum benefit for local communities.

Among the beneficiaries were the Kampung Gunda Jawa JKKK, Kampung Emperoh Jambu JKKK, the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK Saint Paul Bunuk, the Kampung Annah Rais Youth Club, the Saint Augustine Church Mission District Mambong, Kampung Bratan JKKK, the Siburan Basketball Club, the Penrissen Biperoh Area KMKK Committee, and the Padawan Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA), alongside several other community groups.

Dr. Jerip highlighted that the transparent distribution of funds was crucial to ensure accountability and positive impact.

He added that the MRP programme continues to play a vital role in supporting rural communities by addressing local needs in infrastructure, education, and social development.

The Deputy Minister also reminded recipients to adopt prudent financial management practices, stressing that the grants should be channelled towards projects that directly improve community welfare.

The ceremony was attended by Julius Scott Sapong, Administrative Officer in Charge of the Padawan Sub-District Office, and Raymond Jihap, Kuching District Bidayuh Pemanca.

Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration between government agencies and local leaders in ensuring effective implementation of rural development initiatives.

With the latest disbursement, the MRP programme continues to demonstrate the government’s commitment to strengthening rural communities, fostering inclusivity, and ensuring that development reaches all levels of society.
