KUCHING: The Padawan Municipal Council (PMC) has continued its street-sweeping operations across major roads and public open spaces, reaffirming its commitment to public safety, cleanliness, and environmental care.
According to the council, the routine sweeping work forms part of its ongoing initiative to maintain a clean and hygienic environment for residents and visitors within the Padawan jurisdiction. The operation covers both urban and suburban areas, focusing on locations that are prone to littering, debris accumulation, and public complaints.
Despite managing a vast administrative area, PMC said its Public Health and Municipal Services teams continue to prioritise tasks based on inspection reports and on-site assessments. This ensures that areas requiring urgent attention receive prompt cleaning and maintenance services.
The council emphasised that cleanliness is not only the responsibility of local authorities but also the collective duty of the community. Residents are urged to cooperate by disposing of waste properly, refraining from illegal dumping, and reporting unclean or neglected areas to the council for prompt action.
“Our teams are on the ground daily, doing their best to keep Padawan safe, clean, and pleasant for everyone,” the council said in a statement. “We welcome public cooperation and feedback to make our environment healthier and greener.”
PMC’s street-sweeping operations include the removal of litter, leaves, and sand buildup along main roads, drains, and pedestrian pathways. The initiative also complements other ongoing efforts such as drain clearing, grass cutting, and rubbish collection to ensure a well-maintained municipal area.
The council continues to encourage civic responsibility among residents as part of its broader mission to create a cleaner and greener Padawan through shared community effort.
