Upon its conclusion, the improved roadway is slated to become a crucial alternative link between Serian and Kuching.

It is anticipated to directly benefit over 6,000 residents from several local villages, including Kampung Mundai, Kampung Simpok, and Kampung Stabut, as well as Teng Bukap town.

Beyond providing a safer travel route, the upgrade is also projected to act as a catalyst for economic activity. Officials expect it to spur growth in the local tourism, agricultural, and housing sectors.

During the site visit, the Deputy Premier was informed of various implementation hurdles. These challenges primarily involved the necessary relocation of electrical poles, cables, and several structures that had been built within the government’s road reserves.

To facilitate a smooth progression, the State Government has allocated an ex-gratia payment totalling RM1.03 million for the affected property owners.

Furthermore, Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has provided assurance that the work to relocate the utilities will be finished by December 2025.
