Community Spirit Shines at Padungan Police Station’s Bubur Lambuk Program

Kuching, March 13, 2025In conjunction with the 12th day of Ramadan 1446H, the Padungan Police Station successfully hosted a Gotong-Royong and Distribution of Bubur Lambuk Program, strengthening community ties through the spirit of togetherness.

The event kicked off early in the morning with station members preparing wet and dry ingredients in the compound. Officers and community members worked hand-in-hand, peeling onions, cutting vegetables, and preparing meat to cook the traditional lambuk porridge. The strong support from the local community made the event even more meaningful.

Once the porridge was ready, the distribution team packed and delivered the delicious dish to multiple locations, including all Kuching IPD police stations, frontliners at Kuching IPD, Padungan Fire Station, Tanah Puteh Health Clinic, SOCSO, SK Song Kheng Hai, and even the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia. Passersby along Jalan Padungan also received portions, spreading joy during the fasting month.

Beyond distributing food, the event also served a deeper purpose—to strengthen relationships between police personnel and the local community. Through casual conversations while sharing meals, officers took the opportunity to discuss the latest crime updates and encourage cooperation in keeping the neighborhood safe.

The highlight of the evening was a communal iftar (breaking fast) session at the station, where the Padungan Police Chief, station members, and their families gathered to enjoy the meal together. The program was led by Insp Goh Chen Hong (KPB Padungan), SM Sarmezi (Pen. KPB Padungan), and all BP Padungan residents, with the esteemed presence of YBhg Dato Wee Hong Seng (Datuk Bandar MBKS), JKKK Padungan, JKKK Ang Cheng Ho, JKKK Abell, and other community leaders.

This successful initiative showcased the true essence of Ramadan—unity, charity, and togetherness. As the event concluded, all participants warmly wished each other, “Selamat Berpuasa!” – Balai Polis Padungan
