Nanta Praises Young Creators for Keeping Pan Borneo Highway Clean

KUCHING : Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has praised the efforts of local content creator Tracey E. Hughes and her colleagues for launching a social media campaign to keep the Pan Borneo Highway clean, describing their initiative as a reflection of strong civic awareness and love for public cleanliness.

Nanta said their actions have brought new energy to ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Works (KKR) to maintain the cleanliness and safety of Malaysia’s major road networks, especially along the Pan Borneo Highway.

“Seeing the rising level of public awareness, along with the efforts driven by sister Tracey and her team, I and the people at KKR feel we are not alone. Their initiative makes us even more motivated to further strengthen public awareness,” he said in a statement today.

The minister also expressed interest in meeting the group to discuss possible collaboration opportunities aimed at expanding the reach of road cleanliness campaigns across Sarawak.
“I also see potential in appointing them as MYJalan Ambassadors in Sarawak to help spread awareness about maintaining cleanliness and ensuring road safety,” he added.

Nanta said voluntary actions like these show appreciation for the government’s continued investments in public infrastructure. He noted that billions of ringgit have been allocated to build a safe, comfortable, and modern highway network for Malaysians.

“I fully support and welcome efforts like this because they spread a positive message to the community. It opens the eyes of the public to the shared responsibility of maintaining clean and safe roads,” he said.

The minister also reminded the public that road cleanliness and safety are not just government duties but a joint responsibility shared by all Malaysians. He urged more individuals, influencers, and communities to come forward to support similar campaigns to ensure a cleaner, safer, and more beautiful Pan Borneo Highway.

Nanta further shared that KKR launched the Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway Cleanliness Awareness Campaign last August under the theme “Jum Jaga Pan Borneo Bait-Bait”, encouraging collective action and civic pride in keeping the highway clean.
