RAWANG – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today inspected operations at Perodua’s Sungai Choh plant in Rawang, Selangor, meeting with employees who form the backbone of the company’s success as Malaysia’s “King of the Road.”
During the visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on Perodua’s current performance and its plans to launch the company’s first electric vehicle (EV) model in the near future.
The initiative, he said, is closely aligned with the Malaysia MADANI framework, which emphasises sustainable values, inclusiveness and the well-being of the people.
The development of Perodua’s EV is expected to strengthen the national automotive industry while advancing Malaysia’s commitment to green technology.
It will also generate employment opportunities for local communities and provide affordable products with significant social impact.
The Prime Minister stressed that economic progress and human values must move in tandem. “Innovation and environmental responsibility are not separate choices, but two sides of one aspiration of the MADANI nation that champions a green and competitive economy,” he said.
He expressed confidence that Perodua will continue to serve as a catalyst in strengthening Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem, driving the country towards a more sustainable, creative and people-centred future of mobility.
The Prime Minister also paid tribute to Perodua’s workforce, acknowledging their dedication and contribution to the company’s achievements.
“My salute to all Perodua employees who are the heart behind the success of this company, working with dedication to ensure that every vehicle produced is a source of national pride. May Perodua continue to thrive and remain the preferred vehicle brand of Malaysians,” he added.
The upcoming EV launch is seen as a landmark step for Malaysia’s automotive industry, positioning Perodua at the forefront of innovation while supporting the government’s broader agenda of building a sustainable and inclusive economy under Malaysia MADANI.
