LONG BANGA, BARAM – The Long Banga Health Clinic has received a significant boost in its healthcare capabilities following a donation of basic medical equipment worth RM1.3 million under a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative by PETRONAS in collaboration with the Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department (SABATI).

The handover ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring), Datuk Gerawat Gala, who commended the selection of Long Banga as one of 26 rural clinics involved in the initiative.

“This contribution is very much aligned with the Sarawak Government’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which prioritises the well-being and access to essential services for all Sarawakians—particularly in rural and remote areas,” he said.

Datuk Gerawat emphasised that healthcare is the foundation of a healthy and productive society and noted that such efforts support the state’s goal of reducing healthcare access disparities between urban and rural communities.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors, stating that such partnerships can strengthen the overall healthcare ecosystem and accelerate the digitisation and transformation of health services in Sarawak.

“I sincerely hope more CSR initiatives of this nature will be replicated across other underserved areas to improve the availability of medical equipment and facilities,” he added.

The equipment contributed will enhance basic clinical functions and allow the Long Banga Health Clinic to provide more effective and consistent care to the local population.

The initiative reflects PETRONAS’ ongoing commitment to sustainability and social development, while SABATI continues its support for community welfare, especially in underserved areas of Sarawak.
